Completed in 2018
This expert group within the SIANI network, focused on food safety and hidden hunger. In 2018, it investigated the benefits of collaborative purchasing of local produce for women smallholder farmers in Kenya.
Women farmers often lack access to markets due to lack of market information, time constraints and transportation disadvantages – rendering them dependent on middlemen and reducing their competitiveness. The project researched how digital services can lead to more business for women farmers through collaborative purchasing and distribution.
The project was fully funded by SIANI and was implemented in 2018.
